All Stainless Steel (All SS) pressure gauges feature both housing and wetted parts (Bourdon tube, socket, movement) constructed from high-grade stainless steel (AISI 304 or 316L). Unlike brass components, which corrode when exposed to harsh chemicals, steam, or aggressive ambient conditions, 316L SS provides chemical resistance, higher pressure thresholds, thermal endurance, and compliance with sanitary and hazardous industrial standards.
Liquid filling is recommended for applications involving severe mechanical vibration or pulsating hydraulic pressure. Glycerin (99.5%) is the standard dampening liquid for ambient temperatures between -20°C and +60°C. For extreme temperature environments (-40°C to +100°C) or applications involving electrical contact switches, Silicone oil is specified due to its consistent viscosity across wide thermal bands and non-conductive properties.
A diaphragm seal isolates the measuring element of the pressure gauge from process media that may be viscous, crystallizing, highly corrosive, or extremely hot. The flexible metal diaphragm (316L, Hastelloy C-276, Tantalum, or PTFE lined) responds to pressure, transmitting force through a hydraulic fluid fill to the Bourdon tube without allowing process fluid into the internal movement.
